Deletion of NVE volume fails due to one or more key servers unavailable

Issue

  • Deleting an NVE volume fails with the below error:

Cluster::> volume delete -vserver SVM1 -volume APP_01

Error: command failed: One or more key servers are unavailable for Vserver "SVM1". Use the "security key-manager
       external show-status -vserver SVM1" command to check the status of the key servers. Verify that the network
       configuration is correct.

  • The external key management server is unresponsive:

Cluster::> security key-manager external show-status -vserver SVM1
