Applies to

  • ONTAP 9.5 and later
  • Controller upgrade (head swap) with platforms using different cluster interconnect ports (Example: FAS8200 [e0a/e0b] to FAS8300 e0c/e0d])
  • Controller upgrade on ONTAP 9.5+ not using the "system controller replace" procedure
  • Controller upgrade with simultaneous controller hardware and ONTAP software upgrade

Issue

  • After replacing both controllers with newer platform controllers, cluster applications fail to come online
  • Cluster LIFs are missing from network interface show output
  • Cluster SVM is missing from vserver show output
  • Attempting to migrate cluster LIFs to new platform ports while in this state using network interface migrate results in error:
Error: command failed: LIF "node1_clus1" on Vserver "Cluster" could not
be found in database (database vifids is not open). Contact technical
       support for assistance.
