SnapMirror transfer fails with error "Destination is in an invalid transfer state"

Issue

  • SnapMirror transfer fails with one of the following errors:
    • Transfer for volume "volume" failed. Reason: Failed to query transfer status. (Destination transfer state information is invalid. To come out of this state manually, run the "snapmirror abort -hard" command if this is an initialized relationship. If this is an uninitialized relationship, delete and recreate the relationship and destination volume. For restore transfers, run restore with the "-clean-up-failure" parameter set to "true" to delete the relationship. Then retry the transfer. (Replication engine error)). Execute "snapmirror show -destination-vserver <vserver_name> -fields last-transfer-error,unhealthy-reason -expand" to check if the constituent volumes have encountered errors. 
    • Failed to query transfer status. (Destination is in an invalid transfer state (Replication engine error))
    • (Checkpoint data is invalid. (Invalid restart checkpoint provided to SnapDiff. Please delete this checkpoint and restart the transfer.))
