NDMP backups fails establishing a connection on port 10000
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- NDMP
Issue
- NDMP requests from NDMP Data Management Application (DMA) fails to connect to port 10000.
- Because it is unable to connect to the NetApp NDMP Server on port 10000, the DMA is unable to configure NDMP hosts or backups.
- The failed attempts to connect to NDMP cause the DMA to return messages that suggest connection to the NetApp host failed, or that the host could not be reached. There are a various NDMP DMAs, and messages can vary. Here are two specific examples:
- NetBackup
Validation of the credentials failed. Either the media servers could not be reached or the credentials are invalid. Valid credentials are required for backups to succeed.
- Backup Exec
A communication failure occured when attempting to connect to this server. Some common cause for this error are: the computer name is typed incorrectly, the computer is not powered on, a Backup eec agent is not installed, or the network is improperly configured.
- NetBackup
- On the NetApp cluster, NDMP services are running and the NDMP Server is listening on port 10000.
