NetApp XCP Migration Tool

Issue

  • When activating NetApp XCP Migration Tool, user receives error:
    • xcp: ERROR: run activate {}: 'module' object has no attribute 'RestException'

or

  • XCP license activation is failing on linux server with below error.

    [root@server1 linux]# ./xcp activate
    XCP 1.9.4P1; (c) 2026 NetApp, Inc.; Licensed to sxsxsx [abc tch(xcxcxc) Inc.] until Wed Jan 27 00:40:58 2027
    xcp: WARNING: CPU count is only 2!
    Job ID: Job_2026-01-28_21.19.02.92xxx86_activate
    ERROR: Failed to activate license: Server xcp.netapp.com unreachable
    xcp: HINT: Configure DNS on this host or return to the license page to request a private license.
