Cluster switch log collection feature disabled after takeover and giveback or reboot

  • ONTAP 9.7
  • ONTAP 9.8 and later
  • Cluster Switch Log Collection
  • Cluster Switch Health Monitor Daemon (cshmd)


  1. Switch log collection is enabled
  2. Node running cshmd reboots (e.g. takeover/giveback) or cshmd process is restarted
    • Check PS-AXRHWWW section (in weekly and user-triggered Autosupport) for any change to the cshmd process ID (PID)
  3. Switch log collection is no longer enabled
  4. ActiveIQ starts flagging the risk "ONTAP is not setup to collect data from the Cluster switches"
