Applies to

  • Broadcom BES-53248 switch
  • Cluster interconnect switch
  • All RCF versions

Description

While installing a Reference Configuration File (RCF) on a Broadcom BES-53248 cluster interconnect Ethernet switch, it might be required to have the existing configuration wiped.

  • EFOS uses the clear config command to erase/reset the configuration on the switch
  • According to Broadcom documentation, the clear config command does the following:
    • Resets the configuration of the switch to the configuration present in the factory-defaults configuration file if this file is present, without powering off the switch.
    • If the factory-defaults configuration file is not present, then EFOS compile-time defaults are applied on the switch.
  • If the factory-defaults configuration is not present, then the current system configuration such as serviceport configuration would be lost - the switch is no longer remotely accessible

WARNING

This procedure is only for the cluster interconnect switch configuration of the BES-53248.  For MetroCluster IP switch configuration, refer to Upgrade RCF files on MetroCluster IP switches.
