E-Series firmware upgrade to version 11.70.5 fails and node becomes unresponsive

Applies to

  • NetApp E-Series 11.50.3R2
  • SANtricity upgrade to version 11.70.5
  • Controller held in reset due to firmware mismatch

Issue

  • Upgrade to version 11.70.5 fails at 100% from version 11.50.3R2. The failing upgrade results in one controller remaining offline. 
  • The node which remains offline can shows a 7segment code of 5e,d5,7F,ee,60,80,00 or 5e,d5,6e,ee,60,80,00
  • The node will not boot and is held in an offline state
  • Login to Diag is possible but running eossh results in the error:
    • Unable to login to eossh "could not find pid of raidApp1"
