Unable to manage datastores after migrating to a different vCenter server

Issue

One or more of the following conditions are present:

  • Unable to re-register an ESXi host to a different vCenter server in ONTAP Select Deploy
  • When running the "host modify" command, it fails showing "HostNotFound"

(ONTAPdeploy) host modify -name <host> -mgmt-server <vcenter>

(ONTAPdeploy) job monitor -request-id 27154

[Request 27154 (failure)]: Job failed with error. <SDOTAdminError(key="HostNotFound", message="Host "host" not found.")>

  • When running the command "host show" on the deploy, it does not list the host accurately
  • When trying to register the host(s) using its Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) using the "host register" command, the Deploy is unable to reach VMware vCenter
  • The ESXi host shows as not responding in VMware vSphere
  • Attempting to remove  the already registered ESXi hosts fails
