ONTAP Select RPANIC 5 Caused by Unsupported VMware Snapshot

Issue

  • After upgrading ONTAP Select from, the nodes experienced repeated panics and reboots with the following error: RPANIC:5: Associated error message could not be found in AutoSupport
  • Core analysis shows assertion failure in simnv.c:7594 (Simulated NVRAM subsystem)
  • Backtraces indicating persistent I/O latency on iSCSI-backed virtual disks.
  • VMware ESXi logs show All Paths Down (APD) events, NFS disconnects, and high device latency.
  • Snapshots of the ONTAP Select VM were present on the ESXi host.
