Description

This KB describes how to transfer a capacity tier license from an existing ONTAP Select cluster to a new ONTAP Select cluster.

Note: ONTAP Select (OTS) is not licensed by ONTAP version. A valid license in a Deploy server, either Capacity Tier or an unexpired Capacity Pool can be deployed to whichever release of ONTAP image is on the new Deploy server.

This KB assumes the following:
  • The original ONTAP Select cluster was a snapmirror source to the new ONTAP Select cluster
  • The original ONTAP Select cluster is ready to be decommissioned
  • The new ONTAP Select cluster is currently running on a valid evaluation license
  • The new ONTAP Select cluster is now serving all production data
  • The new ONTAP Select cluster is running on a different Deploy than the original ONTAP Select cluster
If any of the above is not met, then the procedure below may not apply.
