CONTAP-636677: OTS 9.12.1+ GEOM aliases do not work for extended partitions on IDE boot disks

Issue

  • When attempting to upgrade ONTAP Select cluster from ONTAP 9.11.1P6 to 9.14.1P14 and then to 9.16.1P7 the upgrade fails resulting in errors such as:

Operating System Not Found
Unable to find root aggregate. Reason: Disk label version number is not supported by this Data ONTAP release. No usable root volume was found!
  • The boot disk appears to be missing or corrupt.
