Transient scsi.cmd.selectionTimeout errors during shelf firmware update

Issue

  • Brief period of SCSI selection timeout errors observed on multiple disks whilst performing shelf firmware updates
  • Error messages observed in logs:


ERROR scsi.cmd.selectionTimeout: Disk device e11b.40.0.6L0: Adapter/target error: HA status 0x7: cdb 0x9a: 00000000486e3880:0001:0040. Targeted device did not respond to requested I/O. I/O will be retried.

  • Multiple disks across different shelves, adapters, and shelf ports affected
  • All aborted commands were successful on retry
  • No hardware issues reported for any disk
  • No further errors observed after the initial event
