MetroCluster switchback simulate failed to ping the partner cluster

Issue

  • switchback simulate fails with error:

CL01 (fatal): Failed to ping the MetroCluster partner cluster "CL02" from node "CL01N01". Verify that the MetroCluster partner cluster is reachable using "cluster peer ping" command, then try the switchback again

  • cluster peer ping shows that CL01N01 cannot ping or be pinged by cluster peers.
EMS logs shows excessive errors on one of the InterCluster ports:

Sat Nov 23 08:40:23 +0100 [CL01N01: vifmgr: vifmgr.cluscheck.hwerrors:alert]: Port e11b on node CL01N01 is reporting a high number (at least 1 per 1000 packets) of observed hardware errors (CRC, length, alignment, dropped).
