Answer

Yes, Round Robin with Subset is a load balancing algorithm used in Hyper-V environments to distribute virtual machine storage I/O requests across multiple paths to optimize performance and resource utilization. When Round Robin with Subset is enabled for a storage device in Hyper-V, it allows the system to route I/O requests in a round-robin fashion across a subset of available paths, rather than across all paths.

This approach helps in more efficient utilization of paths while still providing load balancing benefits. By limiting the subset of paths used for I/O operations, Round Robin with Subset can prevent overloading certain paths and ensure better performance across the storage infrastructure.

Windows Server and Hyper-V hosts default to the Round Robin with Subset policy with PowerStore. Round Robin with Subset will work well for most Hyper-V environments. Specify a different supported MPIO policy if wanted.
