IO Error reported on ESXi due to faulty host end sfp

Issue

  • IO errors reported on ESXi.
  • C3 discard errors reported on the host connected switch port.

  • Rx power reported on the switch port connected to host is not in the recommended range.

RX Power:    -10.7   dBm (84.6 uW)
TX Power:    -1.1    dBm (770.3 uW)

 

  • Isolate the issue further by following below steps-
    • Connect the cable from server to switch to a free switch port.
    • If Issues follows to the new switch port, then the faulty component could be either server end sfp or cable.
    • Start with cable replacement between the server and the switch port.
    • If issues persists post cable replacement between server and switch , then proceed with the solution.
