Answer

To enable CIFS file sharing from Windows 11 24H2 clients, the following settings must be configured on the ONTAP Storage Virtual Machine (SVM):
  1. Enable SMB signing
  • Windows 11 24H2 enforces SMB signing for secure communication.
  • SMB signing must be enabled on the SVM to allow file sharing.
  1. Enable AES encryption for Kerberos authentication
  • Windows 11 24H2 requires AES encryption for Kerberos communication.
  • ONTAP must be configured to support AES-256 and AES-128 encryption types for Kerberos-based authentication.
