User sends reset packet after Negotiate Protocol Request from the storage system

Applies to

  • Windows 2012 R2 Servers used as a Domain Controller
  • Windows 2016 as VScan, Fpolicy, or DC servers
  • Data Ontap 7-Mode

Issue

  • Errors are seen while negotiating protocol, causing VScan/DC/Fpolicy servers fail to connect
  • When the option cifs.trace_dc_connection is set to on, EMS logs:

Fri Nov 24 12:56:16 GMT [filer1:cifs.server.errorMsg:error]: CIFS: Error for server \\DC1: Error while negotiating protocol with server STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT.
Fri Nov 24 12:56:46 GMT [filer1:cifs.server.infoMsg:info]: CIFS: Warning for server \\DC2: Connection terminated.
Fri Nov 24 12:56:46 GMT [filer1:cifs.server.errorMsg:error]: CIFS: Error for server \\DC2: Error while negotiating protocol with server STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT.
