Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Vmware Vsphere Client

Issue

  • NFS datastore used size is incorrect in vSphere Client when NFS volume with thin provisioning and space overcommit.

  • The actual NFS volume used size is pretty small with "df" command in ONTAP.
Example:

Filesystem              kbytes       used      avail capacity  Mounted on

/vol/<volume_name>/ 7730941136    3089656 2134678304       0%  /vol/<volume_name/

/vol/<volume_name>/.snapshot  858993456  220935112  638058344      26%  /vol/<volume_name>/.snapshot
