Unable to join SVM to active directory for authentication due to DNS not reachable

Issue

  • Unable to join SVM to Active Directory domain due to the inability to reach DNS. 
  • Receive the following allert when attempting an active Directory account for SVM, getting the following alert:

Error: Machine account creation procedure failed
[ 53 ms] Trying to create machine account 'NCHSAN' in 'demo.netapp.com' for
Vserver 'svm_ch'
[ 90] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.255 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 107] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.253 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 146] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.255 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 146] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.253 for DNS: Network is unreachable
**[ 148] FAILURE: Unable to contact DNS to discover domain controllers.
[ 149] Unable to connect to any (0) domain controllers.
[ 158] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.255 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 158] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.253 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 160] Unable to contact DNS to discover domain controllers.
[ 162] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.255 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 162] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.253 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 162] Unable to contact DNS to discover domain controllers.
[ 165] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.255 for DNS: Network is unreachable
[ 165] Failed to connect to 192.168.0.253 for DNS: Network is unreachable
