Should I stop the AV connector service when I stop the Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) service?

Answer

  • When vscan engine stops working and does not respond to AV connector, AV connector disconnects the vscan connection (named pipe) until the vscan engine get back to normal.
  • When there is no change in the status after the SEP service is restarted, restart the AV connector service as a workaround on the AV connector side.
  • However,When restart AV connector service doesn't help, it may be due to vscan engine or network problem.
