NFS mount hangs on specific file from Ubuntu client

Issue

  • Ubuntu NFS client hangs when attempting to run "ls -l" on nfs filesystem.
  • Packet trace reveals client is in a loop requesting directory contents and ONTAP sending replies with contents.
  • Any file operation on the file as root fails.
  • If the nfs export is mounted with nordirplus option, the files can be listed but show only ??????? for all the file permissions.
