Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Cisco Nexus 9000 Series

Issue

  • After a storage failover giveback operation one or more LIFs become unreachable
  • The LIF's home port is a VLAN on an LACP multimode interface group
  • The port-channel on the switch is configured in mode trunk
  • When LIFs are reverted to the home node and home port, part of the giveback operation, gratuitous ARP (GARP) is being broadcasted for 10 seconds
  • Due to a switch configuration issue, the switch is dropping the GARP packets and thus fails to update the ARP table with the updated MAC address for the LIF IP address.
