LIF unreachable after giveback due to ARP table not updated on the switch
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Cisco Nexus 9000 Series
Issue
- After a
storage failover giveback
operation one or more LIFs become unreachable - The LIF's home port is a VLAN on an LACP multimode interface group
- The port-channel on the switch is configured in mode trunk
- When LIFs are reverted to the home node and home port, part of the giveback operation, gratuitous ARP (GARP) is being broadcasted for 10 seconds
- Due to a switch configuration issue, the switch is dropping the GARP packets and thus fails to update the ARP table with the updated MAC address for the LIF IP address.
