Issue

  • Kubernetes hosts report the following error:

Host error message: 2024-01-10T08:17:57.873583500-07:00 ???? 08:17:57.873583 8512 nodeserver.go:???] ReadDir c:\var\lib\kubelet\pods\SomeDir\volumes\kubernetes.io~csi\...\mount failed with open c:\var\lib\kubelet\pods\AnotherDir2\volumes\kubernetes.io~csi\...\mount: Access is denied., unmount this directory

  • A mapped CIFS share utilizing the a drive letter mapping designation shows disconnected
  • The 'CSI' software is in use by the clients to facilitate global share mapping
  • Packet traces show the client does not make any SMB calls when this occurs, the only traffic between client and server are keep-alive frames
