How to rename a CIFS server name or OU in Active Directory

Description

This article provides the procedure to:

  • Rename an ONTAP CIFS/SMB server (computer account) in Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Move/rename the CIFS/SMB server computer account to a different OU.

ONTAP requires the CIFS server to be set to an administrative down state (`-status-admin down`) before the change can be applied, even when only changing the OU.
