EMS Event maxCID.threshold.exceeded or maxCID.limit.exceeded
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- EMS
- maxCID
Issue
The following EMS message(s) is displayed:
maxCID.threshold.exceeded or maxCID.limit.exceeded
- The event
maxCID.threshold.exceededoccurs when the indicated node in the cluster is approaching the maximum number of active/open network connections it can support.- In this case, clients and/or application are close to experiencing a disruption in service.
- The event
maxCID.limit.exceededoccurs when the indicated node in the cluster has exceeded the maximum number of active/open network connections it can support.- In this case, clients and/or application will most likely experience a disruption in service.
Notes:
- In systems with <= 15 GB of physical memory, the limit is actually 10,000 (plus 10% for internal connections), so this limit is a true notification.
- Only Cloud Volumes ONTAP, Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, and ONTAP Select systems have this small of memory.
- In systems with > 15 GB of physical memory, the limit is actually 100,000 (plus 10% for internal connections), so this limit is actually a false notification.
- This is an enhancement tracked in CONTAP-555280: The maxCID.threshold.exceeded may be displayed when the limit is not being hit.
- Please check in Additional Information on how to calculate the amount of available and in-use CIDs.
