DNS timeouts from DNS servers within configured timeout for ONTAP 9

Issue

  • A timeout occurs when DNS does not respond within the configured timeout period
  • The following errors are logged in EMS:

[NODENAME: mgwd: dns.server.timed.out:error]: DNS server x.x.x.x did not respond to vserver = svm3 within timeout interval.

  • Or raw EMS file log:

<secd_dns_server_timed_out_1
        ipaddr="x.x.x.x"
        vsName="vserver_name"/>

  • Errors might be seen in SECD:

  • Operation timed out might also be seen during a dns check
