Answer

Yes, any volume and qtree security style is supported with on-demand scanning, which only requires an ONTAP A/V Connector to connect to an SVM via SMB2 or later to facilitate the scan, hence the client access protocol unrelated.​​​​

Note: NFS operations do not trigger vscan requests, thus on-access scanning is only supported for SMB/CIFS access and not available for NFS clients.
