AD/LDAP Authentication failing when node becomes unresponsive but not down

Issue

  • One of the node reported failed CIFS authentication via LDAP from all available servers
  • The node is unresponsive or unreachable in network, but it's not down
  • Switching the LIFs manually to the other node made the authentication work
  • However ONTAP did not use the LIF on the other node for CIFS LDAP authentication automatically
