AD NIS groups not reflected for NFS users after 24 hours

Issue

  • When adding individual new users to a security group using NFS some users are not showing up as having permissions within that group.
  • NIS NFS groups not reflecting in show-creds output.
  • Clearing NFS credential cache did not update group membership.
  • A packet trace shows no communication from NIS server.
  • EMS showed NIS communication failures:
    • ypbind: nis.server.not.available:error]: None of the NIS servers configured for SVM 'nfs_svm' can be contacted.
    • mgwd: mgmtgwd.jobmgr.jobcomplete.failure:info]: Job "NIS group byuser db" [id 9427] (NIS group byuser db) completed unsuccessfully: nis_grp_byuser_db_build() failed: Next Refresh At Sun Jun  1 00:22:21 2025
