Performance impact when using CIFS Access Based Enumeration

Issue

Some or all of the following symptoms may be present when performance issues are related to ABE:

  • ABE is enabled on one or more CIFS shares (this absolutely must be present)
  • Very high latency on CIFS shares with ABE enabled, potentially hundreds of milliseconds
  • Review of qos statistics volume latency show command shows majority of latency under Data column
  • Review of perfstat section "QoS Workload Report" shows wait time on CPU_wafl_exempt for workload, potentially hundreds of milliseconds
  • The share is accessed by many users
  • The share has a high file count (millions of files)
