Issue

  • After the last FlexCache volume associated with a FlexVol origin volume is deleted, attempts to create a new FlexCache volume from that same origin fail, and continue to fail on retry.
  • On the origin cluster, {{volume flexcache origin show-caches}} still lists a cache relationship for the FlexCache volume that was deleted.
  • One of the following EMS events is logged on the origin cluster:
    • flexcache.origincleanup.retry
    • flexcache.origincleanup.fail
  • Client I/O to the origin volume is not affected. Only FlexCache create operations for the affected origin are blocked.
  • This condition is most likely on a FlexVol origin holding a very large number of delegation entries for remotely cached files, combined with a workflow that repeatedly deletes all FlexCache volumes of an origin and immediately creates new ones.
