Issue

  • In mixed-version clusters where nodes running ONTAP 9.11.x coexisted with peers running ONTAP 9.15.x and later, node could panic, leading to temporary data unavailability. The condition was most commonly observed for NFSv4.1 pNFS.
  • The panic signature observed across nodes is:

“PANIC: protection fault on VA 0 code 0 cs:rip 0x20:0xffffffff9dc6a2dd in process NwkThd_XX on release 9.11.1Px”.
