Issue

  • When extended groups (AUTH_SYS Extended Groups Enabled) is enabled for an SVM and LDAP is used configured as a source for the group database:
    • The LDAP server may indicate performance degradation
    • EMS events for secd_rpc_auth_user_id_to_unix_ext_creds may be logged indicating a failure to lookup the UNIX user successfully due to timeouts or delays in the lookup process
  • This can lead to SecD memory pressure and cause RPC's to be dropped, which will be logged in EMS events similar to the example below:
    • Thu Aug 07 12:34:56 EDT [Node-01: secd: secd.rpc.server.request.dropped:debug]: The RPC secd_rpc_auth_user_id_to_unix_ext_creds sent from NBLADE_NFS was dropped by SecD due to memory pressure.
