Issue

  • During CIFS Kerberos authentication, EMS can report that the cluster and domain controller clocks differ by more than the configured clock skew even though those clocks are synchronized.
  • ONTAP rejects the session setup that presents the affected Kerberos ticket. SMB session setup can fail with STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL, and EMS logs secd.cifsAuth.problem with KRB5KRB_AP_ERR_SKEW.
  • A client that retries with a valid ticket may still reach the share. The misleading error remains logged at error severity.
