SP duplicate IP alert in AFF A400, AFF C400, FAS8300, FAS8700 system

Issue

  • During ONTAP upgrade, BMC is not reachable and the system shows SP duplicate IP alerts (sp.dup.ip):
[node1: spmgrd: sp.dup.ip:error]: SP IP address 10.x.x.x in use by another system.
[node1: spmgrd: sp.dup.ip:error]: SP IP address 10.x.x.x in use by another system.
[node1: spmgrd: sp.dup.ip:error]: SP IP address 10.x.x.x in use by another system.
  • No duplicate IP address is found in the network
  • After ONTAP upgrade, the sp.dup.ip  alerts remain
  • The issue can also occur after a BMC firmware update or after a BMC reboot
  • BMC might reboot with a "HW watchdog timeout happened last time!" error and then reports the duplicate IP address:
