Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Tiering
  • AFF warm primary tier
  • FAS with ONTAP S3 cold secondary tier
  • Optimized volume move

Issue

  • Latency during regular operations while reading from the cold tier is lower.
    • Example: qos statistics volume latency show says latency from Cloud is 8 ms.
  • An optimized volume move is started, moving data to another aggregate or node while not reading cold tier data.
  • Latency increases during, and after the volume move for a period of time.
