CONTAP-449488: SAS adapter driver encountered error "Bad Read Data Transfer" on adapter 0

Issue

  • Receive the following messages in the EMS log

sas.adapter.exception:debug: SAS adapter driver encountered error "Bad Read Data Transfer" on adapter 0.
sas.adapter.reset:debug: Resetting SAS adapter 0.
scsi.cmd.checkCondition: Disk device 0m.i2.1L64: Check Condition: CDB 0x28:23065500:0008: Sense Data SCSI:aborted command - (0xb - 0x89 0x2 0x15)(18144).
  • Reseating SAS cables or changing the used SAS ports does not help
  • If this error happens on multiple ports to the same stack on a system that is not cabled Multipath High Availability (MPHA), the controller may lose access to the disks and panic with a fatal multi-disk error.
