CONTAP-233188: ONTAP might fail an encrypting drive during ONTAP upgrade

Issue

  • When a node reboots following an ONTAP upgrade, ONTAP might fail an NSE, SED or FIPS drive.
  • The following event messages are an example of this issue:
    [12:53:38 [node1:nse.op.failed:error]: Control failure on self-encrypting drive 1a.10.3; security provider: None, authority: None, during operation "tcg_tper_properties_sm".]
    [12:53:38 [node1:disk.init.failure.error:error]: Drive 1a.10.3 failed initialization due to error 5, sense code(5 2c 0 0).]
    [12:53:38 [node1:diskown.errorReadingOwnership:notice]: error 19 (disk not ready for requested operation) while reading ownership on disk 1a.10.3P1 (S/N XXXXXX)]
