ONTAP 9.14.1 and later

Answer

  • After upgrading to ONTAP 9.14.1, the available aggregate space increased because the WAFL reserve was reduced from 10% to 5%(this is by design)
  • Assuming that the aggregate usage increased to nearly 100% after the upgrade, and that ONTAP forced the WAFL reserve percentage back to 10% due to the revert, this may result in aggregate space issues
  • Also need to consider the recommended guidelines regarding aggregate usage as outlined in the KB Performance impact of storage usage

Additional Information

What's new in ONTAP 9.14.1

For FAS platforms, the WAFL reserve for aggregates greater than 30TB in size is reduced from 10% to 5%, resulting in increased usable space in the aggregate
