Why did the node perform an auto-giveback when -auto-giveback was disabled?
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Auto-giveback
Answer
Although the
-auto-giveback
setting was disabled, the system still performed an auto-giveback once the node was booted back up because -onreboot
was enabled. If the system performs a takeover because the partner node reboots and the -onreboot
setting is enabled, the system will always perform an auto-giveback once the partner node is back up, regardless of the -auto-giveback
setting being disabled. If auto-giveback was performed due to the
-on-reboot
setting, the following events will be seen in the EMS logs:[?] Sat Dec 25 13:52:57 +0100 [Node1: cf_main: cf.fsm.autoGBTkoverOnReboot:info]: Failover monitor: Automatic giveback was initiated following a takeover that was caused by the partner reboot.
