Why did the node perform an auto-giveback when -auto-giveback was disabled?
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- storage failover
- auto-giveback
Answer
- Although the
-auto-givebacksetting was disabled with the storage failover modify command, the system still performed an auto-giveback once the node was booted back up because-onrebootwas enabled. - If the system performs a takeover because the partner node reboots and the
-onrebootsetting is enabled, the system will always perform an auto-giveback once the partner node is back up, regardless of the-auto-givebacksetting being disabled. - If auto-giveback was performed due to the
-onrebootsetting, the following events will be seen in the EMS logs:
... [Node1: cf_main: cf.fsm.autoGBTkoverOnReboot:info]: Failover monitor: Automatic giveback was initiated following a takeover that was caused by the partner reboot.... [Node1: cf_main: cf.fsm.autoGivebackStarted:info]: Failover monitor: Automatic giveback started
