  • ONTAP 9
  • Decommissioning node via cluster remove-node or cluster unjoin

Issue

Node "Cluster01-01" is the current node for one or more data logical interfaces.  Either move or delete them from the node and retry the operation.  The logical interfaces are: <svm01, svm01_lif1>, <svm01, svm01_lif2>.

  • When attempting to remove or modify logical interfaces (LIFs), the following is seen:
Error: command failed: Failed to pre-arrange recovery prior to attempting operation: Node "Cluster01-01" on ring "VifMgr" is offline Check the health of the cluster using the "cluster show" command. For further assistance, contact technical support. Use "cluster show" to confirm the node is in quorum.
  • A cluster show indicates the node is unhealthy and ineligible:

Cluster01::> cluster show

Node                 Health  Eligibility
-------------------- ------- ------------
Cluster01-01         false   false
Cluster01-02         true    true
Cluster01-03         true    true
Cluster01-04         true    true

  • Node is still physically connected to the cluster
