Answer

  • There is no publicly available NetApp document that systematically lists the scope of all ONTAP time zone settings across every feature.
  • In general:
    • ONTAP uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for internal processing and certain audit-related records.
    • User-facing timestamps tend to be displayed using the time zone configured on the cluster.
  • Time handling is implemented independently by individual ONTAP features and services.
  • The timestamp format and time zone used by a specific feature are determined by that feature's design.
  • ONTAP does not provide a general mechanism to switch all timestamp displays between UTC and the cluster-local time zone.
  • As a result, some functions may display timestamps in UTC, while others display timestamps according to the configured cluster time zone.
