Volume move causes snapshot creation leading to volume space exhaustion

Issue

  • Volume move command is executed with -cutover-action wait, cutover is not started yet.
  • During this time, the Oracle database experience I/O errors due to no space left on device
  • Volume nearly full and full alerts can be seen in EMS log:

 [ monitor.volume.nearlyFull:error]: Volume @vserver: is nearly full (using or reserving 95% of space and 0% of inodes).
 [ monitor.volume.full:ALERT]: Volume @vserver: is full (using or reserving 98% of space and 0% of inodes).
 [ wafl.vol.full:ALERT]: Insufficient space on volume @vserver: to perform operation. 164KB was requested but only 136KB was available.
