Volumes report out of space when free space still exists or "wafl.vol.outOfInodes" events

Issue

  • The client operating system reports the directory/folder as full even though there is space left. 
  • Jobs running on the volume report longer completion time than usual. 
  • High latency reported on the volume with “Dynamic Event Warning Threshold Breached” warnings.

  • The following error message is seen
Mon Feb 22 05:00:00 CST [node-01: wafl_exempt08: wafl.vol.outOfInodes:notice]: file system on Volume vol1@vserver:08e9c7
04-142c-11e4-a98e-123478512342 is out of inodes because it has reached the maximum number of files
 
Tue Jan 23 00:47:02 +0800 [node-01: wafl_exempt07: wafl.vol.runningOutOfInodes:error]: The file system on "Volume volume__0001@vserver:97f66f68-b143-11ed-bf26-d039ea52c21a" is using 80 percent or more of the files in public inode space that can be contained on the volume.
 
  • Cluster might be in a degraded state.
