Applies to

  • Volumes with Auto-Grow (Autosize) enabled
  • NetApp ONTAP 9.16.1P5 (and similar ONTAP 9.x versions)
  • Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO)

Issue

Volumes configured with the Auto-Grow (autosize) policy were not expanding as expected, resulting in client-side errors such as:

  • "There is not enough space. You need additional space to copy these files."
  •  ENOSPC (No space left on device)

Example of events:

  • Multiple “No space left on device” errors on volumes
  • Auto-Grow triggered in very small increments, not keeping up with application write bursts
  • Manual intervention required to increase volume size
