Applies

  • ONTAP  9 release prior to 9.12.1 upgrade to 9.12.1 and later
  • Aggregate size is greater than 30TB

Issue

Once cluster is upgraded to any version 9.12 and above, there is increase in size of aggregates (both aggregate size and available size) with no manual intervention.

Example:
  • Before 9.12.1, for an AFF cluster an 800TB aggregate had 720TB of usable space and the remaining 10% was the WAFL reserve.
  • After upgrading to ONTAP 9.12.1, the same aggregate has 760TB of usable space and 5% reserved for the WAFL reserve.
