cluster1::> storage failover show
                              Takeover
Node           Partner        Possible State Description
-------------- -------------- -------- -------------------------------------
cluster1-01    cluster1-02    true     Connected to cluster1-02
cluster1-02    cluster1-01    false    Connected to cluster1-01, Takeover is
                                       not possible: NVRAM log not
                                       synchronized
2 entries were displayed.

  • Displaying the "Reason Takeover not Possible" field shows the following. Example:

cluster1::> storage failover show -fields reason
node           reason
-------------- ------
cluster1-01    -
cluster1-02    "NVRAM log not synchronized"

  • Manual takeover is not possible. Example:

cluster1::> storage failover show -node cluster1-n1 -fields possible
node         possible
------------ --------
cluster1-01  false

  • In Fabric MetroCluster environments the following check output can be reported. Example

cluster1::> metrocluster check node show -instance
                            Node Name: cluster1-01
                        Type of Check: ha-mirroring-op-state
                             Cluster Name: cluster 1
                  Result of the Check: warning
Additional Information/Recovery Steps: Node's HA mirroring is not online. Verify the HA mirroring link status with the "metrocluster interconnect show" command, then bring the HA mirroring online with the "storage failover modify -node <node> -enabled true" command.

  • ONTAP Event Message System (EMS) is reporting. Example:

... [cluster1-01: statd: cf.takeover.disabled:alert]: HA mode, but takeover of partner is disabled due to reason : unsynchronized log.
