Issue

  • The following message is encountered during the boot process:

* This is a serial console session. Output from this *
* session is mirrored on the SP console session.     *
******************************************************

**  SYSTEM MESSAGES  **
***********************

Part of the /var boot directory is missing.  This node is not fully operational.
Contact support personnel for the recovery procedures.

  • Management Gateway daemon (MGWD) log message:  

[localhost:mgmtgwd.var.recovery:EMERGENCY]: Part of the /var boot directory is missing. This node is not fully operational. Contact technical support to obtain the recovery procedures.


  • Node may self-identify as "localhost" instead of its given nodename:

  • This may occur during a boot device replacement if the configuration restore from the HA partner encountered and issue, and in rare case even when the restore appeared to complete successfully.
