Issue

After upgrading to ONTAP 9.17.1P1, a nodemay panic repeatedly with a message similar to:

PANIC: pagefault(supervisor read data, pagenot present) on VA 0xfffff90ce86f8afa cs:rip 0x20:0xffffffff8e8e90af rflags0x10206 in SK process wafl_exemptXX on release 9.17.1P1(C)

DUMPCORE: START

Dumping to boot device.

  • Node enters a panic loop and cannot boot normally.

  • Core analysis shows the panic occurs in the wafl_exempt process.

  • Other nodes may also become unresponsive or fail hardware self-tests.

  • Affected volume(s) may be offline, causing SnapVault, CIFS, NFS, or backup failures.
